Pakistan's coronavirus cases surge to 1670


Lahore (eDaily Pakistan) - Pakistan’s count of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases soared to 1670 on Monday, after new cases were reported across the country.

According to details, Pakistan’s count of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases soared to 1670 with 638 cases in Punjab, 508 cases in Sindh, 144 cases in Balochistan, 195 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 51 cases in Islamabad, 128 cases in Giligit Baltistan and 6 case in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan on Monday confirmed five deaths related to novel coronavirus, taking nationwide toll to 20.

In Punjab, the city wise break down of the cases is: Quarantines (DGK, Multan, LHR, FSD) 318, Lahore 116, Gujrat 55, Gujranwala 11, Jhelum 28, Rawalpindi 30, Multan 2, Faisalabad 9, MBD 4, Narowal 1, RYK 2, Vehari 2, Sargodha 2, Attock 1, Bahawalnagar 1, Mianwali 2, Nankana Sahib 2, Khushab 1, Bahawalpur 1 & DG Khan 5.

According to National Command and Control Authority, five patients are in critical condition, while 32 patients have recuperated from the infection.

It is pertinent to remember that more than 34,000 deaths have been recorded globally, of which most have been in Europe since the virus first emerged in December.

More than 722,000 virus cases have been registered in 200 countries and territories of which the majority have been in Europe, the worst-hit continent.
