Lahore (eDaily Pakistan) - Former skipper of Pakistan cricket team Shahid Afridi has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan of withdrawing tax on food items to provide relief to people in the crisis erupted due to coronavirus outbreak.
In a tweet, the legend player said that the prices of the food stuff will go down with the withdrawal of taxes.
Besides, Afridi urged people to come forward and play their role in the difficult times.
The country is facing severe financial crunches since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in the country as most of the funds are being utiltised to facilitate the patients and curb the spread of the infection.
Most of the businesses in the country are closed as all the provinces have imposed a lockdown to save people from disease through social distancing.
Pakistan’s count of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases soared to 1526 on Sunday, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Center. The country has confirmed 15 deaths so far.
